Privacy Policy.Afghanistan Education Action respects your right to privacy and works to ensure that any data that we have recorded from our donors, supporters and partners is both protected and used appropriately. This means the following:
We only collect contact information with your consent. You may give your information over email, over the phone, or when you get in touch via our website forms (for example when you make a donation or opt in to receive emails from us). These forms only ever ask for name and email address, and if making a donation, your card details. Card details are only processed with trusted third party applications (i.e. Raisely, Enthuse, Paypal, CAF, Sterling Lotteries) who have strict privacy shields. We may occasionally request some extra information like how you heard about us, or what inspired you to donate, but this will be purely voluntary. Data collection. AEA is working with Children on the Edge to develop our work and establish ourselves as an independent UK Registered Charity. As a newly formed charity, with only two paid staff members, we do not currently have the capacity and infrastructure available to manage online donations and process data. Therefore we are working with our trusted partners, Children on the Edge; a UK registered Charity who have been supporting Afghanistan Education Action, since 2022. They will process and manage any donation or information that is collected via our website or when you make a donation. You can view their Privacy Policy here. Our cookies don’t invade your privacy. Our website automatically uses cookies. A cookie is a small text file of letters and numbers that gets put onto your computer when you visit most websites. It allows the site to distinguish you from other users. A cookie isn't a computer programme, it can’t carry a virus, install malware or read your files. It is primarily there to give you a more personalised experience online. We have a clear ‘pop up’ on the site to inform you of the use of cookies so you can opt out via your browser if you choose to. We won’t spam you or cold call you. Any personal details collected are used only to further our work to ensure access to quality education for women and girls in Afghanistan while championing human rights, democratic values, and cultural advancement. This could be in the following ways, depending on what you have signed up for:
We don’t automatically send updates about our work to everyone who gives us their email address. We only send to people who have specifically signed up to receive emails from us, or people who donate monthly to Afghanistan Education Action. If you have opted in to receive communications from Afghanistan Education Action, you will receive email updates from Afghanistan Education Action or from Children on the Edge on our behalf. Every email we send you will have an unsubscribe link at the bottom where you can remove yourself from the list with just a few clicks. We currently use Mailchimp, who have very strict rules when it comes to ‘spamming’ and a comprehensive Privacy Policy of their own. Very occasionally we may contact you outside of these emails, if there is special news, or an emergency appeal. Whenever you donate to us, your details will be entered into a secure database, currently managed by Children on the Edge. We will not be using these details to bother you with extra information or request further support. We never use information to cold call people. We keep your information safe. We never sell or share your data with third parties for commercial use, and we do not pass it on to third parties to bother you for donations on our behalf. Your donations are managed by payment provider services (Stripe, Paypal, CAF bank) which employ secure technology systems. When you make a donation, your data is securely passed to a database (Salesforce) which also uses secure protection systems. This policy is effective from 9th July 2024. We may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes.
